1. PowerTerm Load Balancer
   A component that distributes the workload between the various Terminal Servers:
   • PowerTerm Load Balancer Server gathers real-time information from the Terminal Servers and routes the different clients.
   • PowerTerm Load Balancer Agent provides the Load Balancer with the necessary information.
   • PowerTerm Load Balancer Administration Tool is a graphical user-interface, which allows you to manage the Load Balancer.
     NOTE: PowerTerm Load Balancer Server should be installed on a separate server other than any of the Terminal Servers.
     
2. Auto login
   The Agent login dialog displays an option to save the username/domain/ password. If selected a shortcut containing the user's credentials is created. Next time the Agent starts, the Agent will use the shortcut to login automatically. To delete the shortcut, right-click the Agent system tray icon, and select "Reset Autologin". All the credentials are saved in an encrypted format that is user and computer specific.

Known issues:

6. It is recommended to download Java Virtual Machine (JVM) v. 1.4.x from Sun's site, as Java client running on Sun JVM v. 1.3.x, jams the printing on the System Print Manager. (A known JVM bug.)
7. For a Macintosh one-button mouse, press its button for the Copy operation from the emulation screen, whereas for the Paste operation simultaneously press Shift on the keyboard and the mouse button.
8. For a Macintosh two-button mouse, press the left button for the Copy operation and press the right button for the Paste operation.
9. In a 5250 Printer session, not only is it necessary to select Use Connection Settings in Advanced Printing Properties in order that the server connection settings will be used, but you must also clear the Java Only option in the Terminal Setup's Printer Property page.

PowerTerm WebConnect 4.21 (Released September 2002):

New Features

1. The PowerTerm WebConnect LPD Client - new client type
   This client implements the most important features of the Line Printer Daemon, as specified in the LPD/LPR protocol.
   The client is supplied as a standalone activex (having its own CAB and HTML files) and also as a tool of the PowerTerm WebConnect ActiveX (like the FTP client).
   The LPD client can either use the PowerTerm WebConnect Server as a gateway or be accessed directly by the LPR.
   The configuration is stored on the server side, while the jobs are managed on the client side.
2. The PowerTerm WebConnect VNC Client - new client type
   The PowerTerm WebConnect VNC client is primarily used by either the Tech Support team or the administrator for attaching to another machine's desktop.
   The ActiveX, OCX and LPD sessions may request assistance either from technical support or the administrators. This assistance is provided using the PowerTerm WebConnect VNC clients.
   The administrator may takeover a VNC attached session of the PowerTerm WebConnect Server's machine or of an active session's machine. This is made possible using the administration tool.
3. Reconnect
   The reconnect feature enables automatic reconnecting to a session that has undergone unintentional communication interruptions, thus preventing loss of session's information.
4. PowerPad & Function buttons support both ActiveX and JAVA clients
   The PowerPad & Function buttons can be defined at two levels: at the server's general level and at the connection level. The Administration Tool provides full user interface in order to customize them.
5. >"Encrypted" PSL commands in Keyboard Mapping, Power Pad & Function buttons
   For those PSL commands that are "confidential", the user interface will show asterisks instead of the PSL command when accessed by those not authorized to view it.

The Administration Tool and LPD Client.

Most of the report list views allow column customization.

1. A right-click on the report list header toggles the width of the column from the optimal width to the minimal width.
2. A right-click on the report list itself displays a context menu containing the following column management options:
   • Predefined subsets of columns (available on most of these report lists).
   • Standard column management:
     • Set Size by Text Width -
       Sets the optimal width for all the columns.
     • Set Equal Size -
       Sets all the columns to the same size, fitting them to the total list view width.
     • Set Default Orde -
       Restores the columns order to the default.
     • Set Default Size -
       Restores the columns width to the default.
     • Set Default Order & Size -
       Restores the columns order and width to the default.

The Java Client Side

The ActiveX and OCX Client Side

Multiple IP addresses can be specified in the 'server_location' argument of the relevant methods of ActiveX and OCX components. The items in the list must be separated by semicolon. They will be used in the specified order.

PowerTerm WebConnect 4.11 (Released February 2002):

The Server Side

1. Active Directory is integrated into the PowerTerm WebConnect server for synchronization with the users defined on the network (enabling state, password authentication).
2. Log files for Server and Starter.
3. Creation and modification times information was added to the defined entities.
4. Memo files were added to the defined entities.
5. New connection usage type: Owner. Child sessions can now automatically be closed when the parent connection terminates.
6. The Internal Ids of users and/or groups can be used as messaging target names.

8. Enhancements to existing PSL commands:

func-hotspot-rows	Sets the range of rows in which function hotspots are enabled.
menu-hotspot-rows	Sets the range of rows in which menu hotspots are enabled.
block-paste	Enables the block-paste mode algorithm.

9. New logical directories:

<local-setup>	When the PSL command 'w2h-set-local-folder' or 'w2h-set-default-setup-folder' was used, then the <local-setup> folder is translated to the folder specified in the last call. Otherwise, the current working folder will be used for translation.
<local-script>	hen the PSL command 'w2h-set-local-folder' or 'w2h-set-default-script-folder' was used, then the <local-script> folder is translated to the folder specified in the last call. Otherwise, the current working folder will be used for translation.

The above two logical directories have no translation for the Java client.

1. Messaging is also supported by the ActiveX / OCX clients.
2. Change Password menu option is also supported by the ActiveX clients.
3. New methods:

1. A dedicated session support. This makes possible to define in the HTML not only a user, but also a connection name. It's relevant only when the user name is defined.
2. The special characters that can be employed for the user name in the HTML:
   
   - If the user name is the character '?', the OS account name must be used.
   - If the first character is '*' (and the rest of the name is not empty), no Login dialog is used. The client directly logs in to the PowerTerm WebConnect server - Automatic Login;
   - The names "*?" and "?*" are similar. They mean: use the OS account name and log in directly to the PowerTerm WebConnect server.
3. The Automatic Login saves the user the trouble of logging in. For Automatic Login the "Log in/Log out" and "New Terminal Window" menu items do not exist.
4. Specifying the user's password in the HTML is now allowed.
5. COM protocol is now supported for predefined connections only, and does not exist for the Free Connection.
6. SUPERLAT communication protocol is now supported.
7. SSH security is now supported.
8. View of Keyboard Mapping is available. The Keyboard Mapping is only enabled during an active session with the Host.
9. 'remove-menu-item' and 'activate-menu-item' PSL script commands are now supported.
10. GUI changes - toolbars and tool tips were improved.
11. The new version of the Java Client supports IE for Macintosh OS X.

Modifications:

1. PtServer.ini was moved under the Database folder. The optional file PtServer.ptr, that must be located in the executable's folder (bin), can point to another location of the Database. If this file does not exist, the Database default location, relative to the bin folder will be ..\Database.

The Server Side

   w2h-set-default-folder	- uses the specified folder as default when the Save/Open dialog boxes are displayed.
   w2h-use-private-folder	- uses the logical filename <user>\connection-file-title.??? for all subsequent open and save operations.
   copy-file	- copies a file.
   move-file	- moves a file.
   rename-file	- renames a file.

2. The FTP client adapts itself according to the communication line speed.

    Using the Hide Ftp Window setting in the Ftp.cfg file hides the PowerTerm FTP Client window (main window) while allowing the File Transfer ASCII mode progress indicator to be displayed.

1. Do not edit the .INI, .PTS and .PTK files manually.
2. Do not add or delete files or directories under the folder specified by the 'RootDirectory' entry in the PowerTerm Server.ini file.
3. Resizing of Netscape Communicator causes the frame of PowerTerm Client applet to close. (A Known Bug of Netscape Communicator).

The Server Side

• Multiple bind addresses. The server is able to accept clients connecting via different networks.
• Pre-defined connection can apply a login script. This script can be edited by the Administration Tool via the Connection Properties dialog.
• Key mapping now supports PSL commands.
• User's login can be limited to a list of IP addresses, optionally specifying the user's account name on the Operating System. Users can be restricted to be logged in on a single machine at one given time.
• More details can be specified for the predefined connections: Terminal Name, Device Name, LU Name, Message Queue, Message Library.

• The Connect (to server) dialog was modified: you can now change the server's TCP/IP port and specify the usage of SSL.
