Ericom and ASUS Team to Provide K-12 Schools with Turnkey Solutions for One-to-One Learning

Closter, N.J., (May 11, 2016) – Ericom Software, a recognized leader in remote access and desktop virtualization solutions, and ASUS, a global technology leader, are collaborating to provide K-12 schools with browser-based access to Windows desktops and applications from Chromebooks and mobile devices. Expanding on the recently announced partnership, the companies offer solutions specifically designed to support one-to-one initiatives and enable BYOD programs within K-12 schools.

Designed specifically for the classroom, ASUS’s new drop-resistant Chromebook C202, with its durable rubber bumper and low price point, creates a viable way for schools to integrate one-to-one and mobile technology into the learning process.

The integrated ASUS Chromebook C202 and Ericom AccessNow offering, enables clientless remote access that extends the reach of Chromebooks (as well as other devices) to Windows applications and desktops, both inside and outside the classroom. The combined ASUS-Ericom solution helps minimize downtime and maximize learning time, while saving money in overall IT costs and reducing configuration and support costs.

Citing an IDC report sponsored by Google, Chromebooks are well-positioned to be a preferred educational connected computing solution. "The educational vision of one-to-one environments — all students, connected, with their own device — requires a low initial cost, low ongoing maintenance, and an easily scalable and highly manageable solution. The Chromebook, with its Web-centric operating system, secure computing capability, simple deployment and management, Chrome browser-based applications, and cloud data storage, is one device that meets those requirements," state Bob O'Donnell and Randy Perry of IDC.

"The education market continues to rely on Chromebooks and mobile devices to improve the learning experience inside and out of the classroom," stated Ilan Paretsky, Vice President of Marketing at Ericom Software. "While cloud and mobility are driving this transformation, there is still the need to deliver access to traditional Windows desktops and applications, which offers the ideal use case for our clientless, HTML5 access technology."

Ericom has enjoyed great success implementing its remote access solutions in the K-12 education market thus far. Educational institutions including the Jackson School District, The Perse School, the Bradford Central School District, The Arthur Terry Learning Partnership, and the Watson Institute among other educational institutions have integrated Ericom's solutions into their learning environments to provide students, teachers and staff with remote access to important educational resources.
